Miletich and White Headed for Reconciliation?

Hell may be freezing over, because Pat Miletich and Dana White may make nice very soon.

Miletich recently told MMAInsider that he's working with White to arrange a meeting between them in the coming weeks.

The famed trainer and UFC head honcho have been on the outs for years after a litany of slights, real and perceived, between them over the course of eight years in the industry.

Miletich reportedly washed his hands of White in 2006 after being promised a coaching spot on the third season of "The Ultimate Fighter," only to see Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock take the job.

But time heals wounds, and a lot of time heals really bad wounds. Things may be turning around.

"I think we've both decided that it's better that we're not at each others throats," said Miletich. "We're both stubborn, and that's our problem."

Miletich's stable of active UFC fighters has dwindled over the years, as the originals of Miletich Fighting Systems have moved on to other camps or started their own. Recently, Miletich let go of one the last current UFC fighters in his stable, Drew McFedries, who was booted over comments he made at the post-fight press conference for UFC 98.

Could the meeting be a precursor to seeing more Miletich fighters in the Octagon? Could Miletich himself be vying for another "TUF" spot, or better yet, a fight of his own? Will the meeting degrade into shouting?

The Miletich Family is still... the Miletich Family

With many of the longtime Pat Miletich-trained fighters having gone their separate ways over the past couple of years there is always a ton of speculation of the once great team having it in for each other. Well, it doesn't sound like it's that way for Matt Hughes. In his latest blog post, Hughes talks about being at Pat's latest fight with Jens Pulver and Robbie Lawler and some of his feelings for Pat:

"This last Thursday, Pat Miletich, my former coach and longtime friend returned to the cage. I've been waiting for Pat to fight again for a long time. With Pat helping me get ready for fights as much as he has and seeing all of his talents, I hated seeing Pat leave the industry on a loss. So I was always hoping that Pat would come in, get a fight against a formidable opponent and show everybody what he can really do. So last Thursday, Pat fought Thomas Denny and he did just that. He showed everybody that might have had a doubt that Pat still has what it takes to be a top fighter. So, with as good as Pat looked in the fight I hope he takes another one. I sat ringside with Jens (Pulver) on my right and Robbie (Lawler) on my left. We were pretty amped up for the fight and when Pat knocked Thomas out in the second round, we went crazy. I know that all three of us were in a big hug just jumping around. Some of you might know this, but when I would travel to Iowa on Monday, I would stay there all week and drive back on Friday. It was tough being away from my family, which is one of the biggest reasons I opened the HIT Squad; but Pat and the friendship we have really helped fill the void of my family not being around. To be honest, he played the role of my brother when I was in Iowa. Pat Miletich is family and nothing could ever happen that would ever make me think otherwise. But it was great going up there and seeing all the guys and it was good seeing Ryan, Mike C. and some other guys I know get some wins there as well."

40 and Going Strong! Miletich Shows Up in Great Shape for Adrenaline MMA...

Pat "The Croation Sensation" Miletich – now 40-years-old with nearly as many professional bouts to his credit – steps back into action tonight against Thomas "Wildman" Denny at Adrenaline MMA's sophomore effort in Moline, Ill. at the iwireless Center.

When your reach that incriminating age, lost five of your eight most recent bouts, and haven't competed in more than two years, everyone starts to say, "What the heck are you thinking?"

Miletich's last fight being a submission loss to Renzo Gracie is probably "what the heck" he's thinking.

Longtime friend and Adrenaline promoter Monte Cox concurred, telling MMAInsider, "I just think that he doesn't want to end his career on the way his last fight went. He's in the best shape I've seen him in a long, long time. I think he's really going to surprise some people."

If yesterday's weigh-ins are any indiciation, Miletich will definitely be ready. Just take one look at the photo of him and Denny and you'd have to agree, Miletich don't look half-bad for a 40-year-old man.

Pulver Talks About Leaving the Miletich Nest

Jens "Little Evil" Pulver is the latest of the original Miletich Fighting Systems crew to leave the revered gym for a different perspective.

In preparation for his fight with Leonard Garcia at WEC 36, Pulver moved to Kirkland, Washington to train with Matt Hume at AMC Pankration.

Pulver spent his early years in Maple Valley, Washington, just outside of Seattle.

Pulver described the change during a media teleconference on Tuesday for the Nov. 5 show in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

"Spencer Fisher was like you gotta go out here, you gotta do this," Pulver told reporters. "My wife, she's like, 'hit the road, you gotta go train.' It's time to get out of here."

Pulver had trained with Pat Miletich and the boys of Bettendorf, Iowa for the better part of eight years, beginning in 2000. At his apex, Pulver put the first-ever UFC lightweight championship on the Miletich mantle.

But Pulver needed a change, and hearing Fisher's glowing recommendation sealed the deal. Hume had cornered more than a few of Pulver's opponents, and Pulver was tired of always seeing him in the opposite corner

"All these years, he's always broke me down for other people," he said. "And I'm like, here, help me this time. Stop always trying to find my weaknesses. Let's switch that up.

"Rolling with him one day, it was terrible. he just broke the donkey, dude. He just killed me."

Pulver says he's back in school, learning for the first time in a long time.

"All I've got is a bedroom, time, and a place to train," he said. "That's it. It's changed everything. Matt Hume's got amateurs out here that dish me the biggest beating of my life."

Before the move, Pulver spoke to his coach about the choice.

"He had to ask me at one point, 'Are you going out to Hume?'" Pulver said. "I'm like, yeah, I need a change. Plus I haven't been home in about twelve years. He knew. It wasn't like he was my father, we're grown adults. I just needed a change."

Miletich was a father of sorts to Pulver, but eventually, kids have to leave the nest. Fellow Miletich originals Matt Hughes, and Robbie Lawler left the camp earlier this year to form their own gym, HIT Squad, in Illinois. Results have been mixed. But Pulver will certainly know whether change is good when he meets Garcia on Nov. 5.
