Matt Hamill was declared the winner by disqualification against Jon Jones on Dec. 5 at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale after Jones landed three illegal elbow strikes to the face of Hamill.Referee Steve Mazzagatti stopped the fight and determined Hamill was in no condition to continue due to the cut on his nose.
To determine whether or not the illegal strikes contributed to the facial wound that stopped the fight, instant replay was used for the first time in Nevada in a mixed martial arts fight.
"This is actually the first time instant replay has been utilized in Nevada" said Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer.
After reviewing the tape, Mazzagatti awarded Hamill the win by disqualifying Jones.
