UFC 103: Franklin vs. Belfort Extended Video Preview

The Phenom, former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort, makes his long-awaited return to the Octagon to face UFC superstar Rich Ace Franklin in the main event of UFC 103. Also featured on the biggest MMA event to ever hit Texas will be perhaps the most explosive heavyweight battle of the year when one of the sports most feared strikers, Mirko Cro Cop, takes on Brazilian knockout artist Junior Dos Santos.

Check out the extended preview...

awesome card! It's a shame Quick Swick dropped out, but Daley will look to stand and bang with Hitman. I look for Kos to walk right thru Trigg. What Trigg does well, Kos just simply does much better. This is a true test for Dos Santos. If he KOs Cro-Cop his stock goes straight up and Dana will start having to use Mirko as a stepping stone for fighters such as Pat Barry.Hermes vs Tyson should also be exciting, does this one stay standing???? I don't see Hermes being able to take Griffin down, Griffins boxing is very crisp.(see Sean Sherk fight) I'm also excited to see Cole vs Efrain, after whooping Junie Browning, Cole could now also knock off the TUF season winner.

Main Event- I guess this all depends which Vitor shows up. He's now training with all guys that push him, and he is letting his management worry about the who, when, and where. He comes ready to pull the trigger and this could be a stand up war. Vitor has the one hitter quitter power no doubt. Rich has good head movement and throws punches from crazy angles. If Rich does get dazed in an exchange, can he take Belfort down?I want to pick Franklin, but if Vitor is right he just seems like a bad stylistic match-up. Straight punches with great hand speed is always a problem for looping punches. If Vitor does win this fight look for one more fight and a shot at King Anderson and the MW strap.

Jason did you watch the Matt Lindland fight? Are you serious? Rich by first round Ko? You are crazy or just plain dumb. Nobody Ko's Vitor, The Natural is the only one that has, but Rich Franklin won't even get close. Vitor by nasty KO in the first!!!

I agree nobody KOs Vitor. Rich has been stopped by Spider twice and once by Machida outside the UFC. If Rich wins I'm guessing it will be on points. All the highlights are not old either, 3 of Vitors last 4 wins are by way of stoppage.(2KOs-Lindland,Martin 1TKO-Serati)

Vitor vs. Franklin: Vitor KO 2nd Round. I think the battles Franklin has been in will finally take its toll. This will be his 3rd fight this year with the first two being brawls that went to decision. For Vitor its only his 4th fight in 2 years and coming off the KO in the 1st of Lindland. Vitor will be too much for Franklin.
Cro Cop vs. Junior: Junior KO in 1st. Carwin would have been a true test for Dos Santos. Hell, Kongo and Gonzaga would have been true tests. Cro Cop was a 1 kick wonder in Pride and now he thinks he's a boxer. He belongs over at Dream because that's all UFC is to him is a dream.

Koscheck vs. Trigg: Did I read that right Frank Trigg. Trigg has 19 wins against lesser opponents and 6 losses against bigger names. Meaning he always blows his chance. Kos needs to just stick to wrestling and not stand with Trigg and he should make up for both Thiago losses (first and last name).

Daley vs. Hitman: This fight is toss-up, but I have to go with Hitman decision. These two will just bang, both strong chins and heavy hands. If Daley can execute his Muay Thai he may pull off the upset.

T. Griffin vs. Hermes: Griffin decision. That's just how he wins, Hermes is a better submission but Griffin just makes you work on the ground looking good in the judges eyes.

I agree with Johnny Z and hope Cole vs. Efrain makes the PPV, this could be the fight of the night.

The last guy that want's to kill Cro-Cop brings up some good points. Either Rich is just showing some fatigue from these wars or he is showing that in his mid 30s his body doesn't like the power in the 205 division. I haven't seen Rich landed on by big looping punches like Wanderleis' let alone him showing the affects like he did in his last fight. Vitor punches straight, if Rich doesn't get out of the way a little bit better, uh-oh.

I don't think it matters where Kos fights Trigg. Don't let what happened with paulo Thiago fool you, Trigg-onomics doesn't include any striking worthy of stopping Kos.

I am glad someone else recognizes the potentially great fight in Efrain and Cole. This should have made the main card.
