Is Kimbo Already Headed Back From Elimination?
Kimbo Slice was eliminated in his first bout on Season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter, losing to former IFL champion Roy Nelson. But it's being hinted that he could be returning sooner rather than later...
This all seems very contrived to me ... Kimbo is NOT an MMA fighter. All that happens is more of the same if he comes back ... big ratings, bigger flop in the Ocatagon. He has no clue on his back, totally one dimensional, he's a joke! He could train solid on the ground for two or three years and still get schooled by an average fighter. How the hell does he ever compete in the heavyweight division against Nogueria, Dos Santos, Valasquez, etc. Forget about Lesnar, they'd be carrying dude out on a stretcher! And if "Big Country" is the best fighter this season, man, then I'm done watchin' ... lame casting! One other thing, how the hell did Rampage ever get to be the coach? He is the worst one ever for the TUF series. I thought that after his first go 'round with Forrest. Dude sits in the corner on his thumbs and says, "Get up" when his fighter is pinned. When his fighter is in trouble he offers nothing in the way of advise to help the guy get into a better position, he just sits there ... horrible. I'm not impressed at all with this season, I think it's a joke. The freakin' "Kimbo Show" and he's a total bust!

But seriously... Nelson's shit. There's a reason his tubby ass isn't in the UFC already, and we saw it last night. Even against an overhyped, overrated rookie like Kimbo Slice, Nelson had to resort to the "Gut-in-the-Mouth Smother" finisher. Big Country's like a fatter Tim Silvia, with less boxing ability. He might well walk through the contest with the 'Blubber Mouth' (patent pending), but that move's not going to do much for him against skilled, experienced UFC-calibre fighters.
On Kimbo, everyone knows he's not an MMA competitor yet - he's a glorified street fighter with a few extra tricks picked up along the way. As far as knockout specialists go, he's dangerous to anyone. But as soon as he's grounded, he's in serious trouble. Since he's far from the only fighter ever on the UFC roster to boast those kind of attributes, I don't see why he shouldn't be signed. And of course, he will be on his drawing power alone. KimboMania's runnin' wild!!!

As un-entertaining as that fight may have been, he showed ground domination over Kimbo. I almost felt like he knew he could have hit harder but didn't want to since he rooms with him. Shit, I wouldn't even be surprised if the producers gave him some extra "encouragement" not to open his face with any cuts.
With his elite ground game he was easily dominating Kimbo on the ground, being able to lock someone up like that to where they can't escape at all is a very powerful move, fat stomach providing the extra weight or not.
The reason his "tubby ass" is not in the UFC is just because of his physique. He has the skills.
And comparing Roy Nelson to Tank Abbott? Ridiculous. Jiu-jitsu black belt (under Renzo Gracie) vs credential-less street brawler. Stomachs don't make a fighter.
Gentlemen, wednesday's fight was one of the worst fights I have ever seen. Sincerely, it looked like a pillow fight to me. Nelson´s punches were a joke, Kimbo did absolutly nothing on the ground, but those punches were not enought (IMHO) to end a fight. If this is all you need to do to win a UFC match, please, let me fight some pillow throwers like those.

He has no ground game to speak of. The fact is, you can tell he learned some more about fighting MMA since his last fight and if Kimbo trains on his ground game he will probably get better. Far from ever being able to beat any of the current heavyweights in the UFC, but give the guy credit, he is learning. How bad have some of these guys looked in TUF in past years and then when you look at them now you can see how much they have improved. Kimbo and Nelson are now training with the best. So for those bashing on Kimbo and Nelson while claiming that they know all about MMA compared to those who support Kimbo and Nelson, you guys are the joke. I gots a blackbelt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and it only cost me $199 and 1 month of watching DVD's. UFC gots 25 Heavyweights on the roster. Affliction folds Dana goes after Gormley, Struve, Rothwell and the other Nogueira. He signs unknowns Pat Berry, Mike Russow and Todd Dufe. Ever hear of Patrick Smith, the guy has 25 fights under his belt and he's on the UFC roster. With that all said Shocked_n_Awed was right in saying "There's a reason his tubby ass isn't in the UFC already". All the hype of him being a "grizzled veatern" and former IFL champ, then why didn't Dana go after him before TUF 10. Cause he ain't shit. I'm no big fan of Kimbo as a MMA fighter cause his ground is fo shit. If Nelson is all the heavyweight division has to offer for this show, then I'm out. It's bad enough the Heavyweight champ does the same thing, just lay on you, at least when Brooke hits you, it hurts and you feel it. I even enjoyed watching Klitschko make Arreola cry cause his face hurt so bad, more then I'm enjoying this season of TUF. But that was five years and a few dozen Happy Meals ago for Nelson, right? I mean, he gassed Mir - well, that's always been Frank's knock, right? No gas in the tank. And 'Mid-Sized Country' obviously had more stamina on that day. The guy I watched last Wednesday looked a lot heavier, and a lot less agile than the man in that video.
And of course, that's a straight grappling match. Would Mir have been in danger of running out of steam if it had been an MMA-rules bout? Frankie was dominant for the opening few minutes - with some fists and elbow strikes, Nelson coulda been cold.
P.S. I always thought there was a lot of cross-traffic between here and Sherdog!
Damn straight! Frank would have put that big boy straight on his butt in the cage! He only got tired in that fight because he didn't get enough sleep the night before, and his wife nags him too much.
