Urijah Faber comments via his personal website about the fight with Jose Aldo, and also shows off his leg following the kicks he endured on Saturday night.
People are so quick to write off those who, not two years ago were "unstoppable". Honestly I think Faber did very well considering he couldnt put much into his punches with a bum leg. With a slightly different gameplan could have pulled that off, I think he did very well at the start and won the first, but everyone watching new his damaged leg gave him little chance of getting close enough to the elusive aldo to tag him and end the fight. Faber would be a beast at 135 but I think he could make another run at the title at 145 bc I could see him easily beating the "anvel" who beat up a sad wittle mike brown.
and one more thought, anyone who gives a **** should check out the Sacremento Bee article about how faber should retire, I sent an email to the "journalist" who asked faber to spare Sacremento the shame of "cheering for him going into the cage" only to be dissapointed by "another' loss....absolutely ridiculous, he should be ashamed, fat ass sitting at a computer telling a world class fighter to retire at the age of 30 and having lost only 4 fights
Faber has to be the nicest, most humble professional fighter I've ever seen. All that fame and pressure, and you never even so much as catch a glimpse him being over-confident or condescending.
I appreciate Faber's comments. I think he showed a lot of class with his humbleness. That being said, I think that he is not giving Aldo enough credit in that fight. When he said he is a tough fighter to finish, truth be told, Aldo really did not try that hard to finish him. I believe that Aldo knew that he could end the fight at any time midway through the second round and definitely in the third and fourth. I think that he didn't out of respect for Faber being in his hometown. There was no need to embarass Faber any further than by KO'ing him. Aldo never felt threatened by Faber, nor did Faber pose any threat to Aldo in the entire fight. Also, that fight should have been stopped in the fourth round when Aldo had Faber in the crucifex. Who lets a fighter keep taking punches for a minute and a half when they can't defend themselves. Doesn't matter if the punches are heavy, or damaging, what matters is that the fighter cannot intelligently defend themselves. Look at the second Penn/Hughes fight.
I think the biggest loser in this card was not Faber..he was the underdog going in..Brown's loss I believe was a major set-back..made worse by Dana announcing that he had personal issues..not even trying to look into it first..Men, Dana..what an imbecile..so inclined into making money he's losing touch with his fighters..passing judgemnt on Tito b4 knowing if the accusations are legit or if there is more to it..not condorning Tito's actions if he's guilty..but deserves a fair trial as well..
Aldo would NOT do the same thing to Penn.. They are in different promotions for a reason. Condit ruled the WEC and he lost his 1st fight in the UFC. They're on a different level in my opinion.
