TMZ.com is reporting that "old school" UFC competitor Kimo Leopoldo was arrested by Orange County police on Monday for possession of methamphetamine.
According to the report, Leopoldo first attracted the attention of officers by wearing a Long Beach Police Department jumpsuit adorned with a cloth badge that was exclusive to employees of the law enforcement agency.
Officers subsequently stopped the 41 year-old fighter and searched his car, where the drug was found.
Kimo has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and is in the custody of Tustin police.
It's not a stretch to think the incident may have a negative influence on his bid to become the Executive Officer of the California State Athletic Commission. In a press release sent last week, the fighter announced he was applying for regulatory position in order to clean up the corruption supposedly left in the wake of Armando Garcia's resignation.
"Since most MMA fighters seem to be coming out of my backyard in southern California, I want to talk to local wrestlers about the benefits of staying drug free and how to remain positive even when times seem too tough," Leopoldo said. "I don't want anyone to make the same mistakes I made and, if I can save just one young person, my efforts will be worthwhile.”

"What a hypocrite" U guys, well some of u R morons, to call him a hypocrite just b/c he does recreational drugs on his own time & on his own dime doesnt mean shit with regards of him wanting to clean up the sport of MMA by getting ride of "cheaters" who try to gain an edge over ones oponent with performance enhancement(s) such as roids, hgh, growth hormones etc!
Now how does him doing meth, weed, cocaine, heroin, zoomers, PCP, angel duste etc etc etc Have anything to do with getting a liscence to help people to stay clean with regards to following the rules of MMA?!?
Whether its weed or meth, they are illegal yes, but I would bet my life that @ least 25% of the population does indeed engage in some form of illegal substance(s)/"treats". Just b/c u smoke weed, snort cocaine, to eating zoomers... I dont understand how doing what u want on ur own time no longer means the same it did 10 yrs ago. Just b/c one person or a group of people or 99% of the fucking world does drugs on their own time, after work @ ur house blowing up a "fatty" or snorting a line is noones business. Ur comparing an athelete who wants to cheat by using roids or whatever, to an avg "JOE" who likes to get high on his own time. If hes a pain in the ass or if there are any complaints with regards to his behavior while on drugs on his own time, then yes I agree no job 4 you, or in this case no liscence.
