Karo Parisyan Suspended 9 Months, Fined 40% of Purse

UFC welterweight Karo Parisyan was suspended today by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for a positive test arising from his fight with Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 94. Three Schedule II drugs, painkillers oxymorphone, hydromorphone, and hydrocodone, were found in his system following the fight.

The commission voted unanimously to suspend Parisyan, who slumped before the commission as the punishment was delivered.

As a result of the Commission's decision:

A)Parisyan is suspended from competition for 9 months

B)He is fined 40 percent of his $80,000 purse ($40,000 show/$40,000 win), totaling $32,000, which will go to the Athletic Commission

C)He must submit to random drug testing

D)The result of his UFC 94 bout with Dong Hyun Kim is changed to a "No Decision"

If Parisyan's fight is changed to a "No Contest", does he lose the Win Bonus?

And if he loses the Win Bonus, does his fine change or will he end up losing 32,000 of his 40,000?

How about since he shouldn't have won the fight in the first place (BS Decision) that he should only be fined 40% of $40....

If a fighter cheats, he ought to be suspended 1 year for the first offense, the fight where violation ocurred should be a LOSS, and ALL money earned in that fight should be donated to fund the research and treatment of Autism in children. If there are subsequent violations, it should be more severe.

How do you suppose he cheated? It's not like he got busted for steroids, the guy was on painkillers for Christ's sake. You really think if he had a choice between having a nagging injury that requires him being on painkillers during the fight, and coming into the fight healthy, that he would choose the former? It's not even illegal to be on them during the fight; where he messed up was in not disclosing this information earlier. Karo didn't cheat, he just made a bad mental error.

He took substances the commision deamed illegal with out a prescription.

He had no prescription= cheating

I'm not going to say Parisyan cheated. I've always supported him in the cage.
I don't agree with fighters being allowed to fight on pain medication because it creates an unsafe environment. Fighters push their bodies farther than they should go because they don't suffer the consequences of their actions (pain).

Regardless if he should have disclosed this or shouldnt have taken that....he lost that fight it was a terrible decision. Truthfully I'm glad that they took the W from him. And I personally dont care for the nsac or the csac they can all kiss my ASS!

First, To the anonymous poster who said "He had no prescription= cheating"- yes he did have a presrciption, they've said that in multiple diff. articles related to this topic(including on MMAWeekly) He just forgot to fill out his pre-fight paper work correctly.
Second, I agree with all those who say parisyan lost the fight anyway, i thought that decision was b/s. Parisyan was barley fighting and while Kim wasnt impressive, he certainly did a hell of alot more than Prisyan... looks like the "Heat" is starting to get chilly.

Justice is served in the way of No Contest
