Riggs vs. Diaz II Possible, But Not Cleared

A proposed rematch between Nick Diaz and Joe Riggs at Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg on Aug. 15 is still on hold, MMAInsider has learned from multiple sources close to the fight.

Although both parties have agreed to the fight, the bout will not go forward until cleared by Showtime executives. As per Strikeforce's agreement with the premium cable network, all bouts need to be approved by Showtime before they are finalized.

Thus, no bout agreements have been signed for the bout and both camps are waiting for confirmation, which could come as early as the end of Tuesday.

Diaz and Riggs fought, twice, over three years ago at UFC 57 in Las Vegas. Riggs won a close decision, which Diaz protested by instigating a fight at the hospital where both were taken afterwards.

The two have shared disdain for each other since.

Yeah, didn't Diaz knock him out at the hospital?

nope, dropped him to a knee, then Joe shot a single and it went to a clinch which ended in an office.

Just because you cant stand him doesnt mean that he's a disgrace to MMA. You sound like a idiot to me but that doesnt make it true. I cant stand you.

by the way-you may want to go back and watch their previous fight. Riggs out boxed diaz! I agree Joe was countering alot and wasn't stalking diaz but diaz stalks everyone. Diaz always wades into the water first not necessarily a great plan but for him it works with his reach and chin. Not to mention he does have good unorthodoxed boxing. Joe has quicker hands though and the first time he fought nick it was his second fight at 170 and his cardio wasnt as good as now since his body is accustomed to the weight cut. He definately looks better now at 170 than he did. This will be a fun fight to watch. Nick has got a chin, he took some heavy shots the first fight not to mention a big shot from Scott Smith that didn't faze him either.

why this fight is taken place is beyond me. Joe Riggs broke both hands in a beatdown of the new york badass baroni. He shoud be resting his hands so he can use them when Jake shields accepts his challenge and grows a pair.Riggs shouldn't be wasting his time on either diaz there both chumps.Since the fight is going to happen I hope Riggs smashes Diaz's already screwed up nose.

Nick is a true Warrior, he will fight anyone anytime at anyweight!! Kj Noons did cut him up bad, and he is a tuff fighter himself, but Diaz would take him in a rematch. Joe Diesel is always full of excuses, Diaz won the first and he will win again.
Nate on the other hand, better hit the weight room.
