Dana White Rails on Fedor's Pound-for-Pound Status

Steve Cofield and the boys at ESPN 1100 once again get UFC president Dana White to rail on Fedor Emelianenko and Affliction, but at least this time they use a new tact and bait Dana into an argument over whether or not Fedor is the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world.

An obvious ploy to get Dana's blood pressure to rise... but, hey, it worked...

I love Fedor but he doesnt fight all that much anymore, so I wouldnt be comfortable either (as White) saying that he is the "pound for pound" best fighter in the world. I have seen him get put on queer street a couple of times and Brock does have those stiff lunchbox jabs! Fedor is actually a pretty small guy. Randy is bigger than he is. I mean, Brock is just so fuckin big!!

Of course Dana White isn't going to admit that Fedor is pound-for-pound the best fighter in the world. He's a promoter -- he has an economic incentive to market his own fighters, such as GSP. And, of course, the brighter Fedor's star shines, the better Fedor's negotiating position and the more White will need to share with him in order for White to sign him to a UFC fight. But if you study Fedor's fights, it is pretty clear that, barring something extraordinary happening, he would handily crush Brock Lesnar. And yes, Fedor is still most probably the best pound-for-pound MMA fighter in the world, notwithstanding Dana White's feeble (and financially motivated) protests to the contrary.

I'm not sure what Fedor has to do to prove to you F'in morons that he is the best in every aspect. Maybe he needs to rid the U.S.'s deficit and create world peace. They say who has Fedor beat lately? How about: Who hasn't he beat?? Barnett will be the next victim and if that oversized elephant Lesnar thinks he can go in there and whip a guy who has been on top for 8-10 years, he's out of it!! Dana is trash. Fedor has nothing left to prove. He's beat guys bigger than Lesnar, so I know what will happen if they fight, I just want it to happen so everyone will get off Brocks nuts (who hasnt really fought anyone).

Clearly ANDY WANG is the number one p4p fighter in the world!!!

the problems with being the best are that theres always going to be people who doubt your abilities, always a new challenge, always be someone new to fight, a new threat who is always bigger and badder than all the others who came before. so all of his victories will always be scrutinized, all of his efforts will be judged by "who's left" rather than who fills his win column. only because there are a small handful of dominant fighters even worthy of being mentioned in the same breath, his greatness is being reduced to the worth of his remaining possible opponents.

under that same twisted logic, should Anderson Silva, having run through all contenders at 185 in the UFC start to go and fight the potential contenders outside the UFC to justify his legacy? and if he decides not to, should his greatness now come into question?

fedor dominates in (and at the small end of) a 60lb. weight class. he is the best p4p fighter in the world hands down.

Dana white is such a prick he always has to bas h on people like tom atencio who in his interviwes comes across as a preety decent guy and at least he practices what he preaches and actually fights.Dana is like the Don king of mma he will use u up and then discard u like yesterdays trash.I hope ferdor stays with affliction so Dana cant have his monopoly or it will be hard to see new and upcoming talent.AS far as Brock goes Id like to see shane carwin get a shot at him I think besides fedor he has the best chance at knockin him out better than randy or nogera

so, let me paraphrase what Dana was saying: Fedor can beat any of my heavyweights handily and I really want a cut of his business.

i have seen very few fights of Fedor's so yes, i am being somewhat ignorant. However, what i did see of his fight with Arlovski, it appeared Arlovski was getting the better of Fedor up until the no look punch that drained AA.
I would love nothing more than for fedor to destroy lesnar....or anyone for that matter. i hate that guy with a passion. but lesnar is a big powerful man. he handled the ex champ with ease. i dont know if fedor is going to be able to handle lesnar. god i hate saying that.

Fedor is NOT pound for pound the best, not even close. He fights cans. Brock, Randy and Mir would destroy him.
