The following is a blog post taken from Quinton "Rampage" Jackson's personal blog addressing the fallout over his decision to retire from fighting:
"Make no mistake the UFC treated me a lot better than Pride. If you get hurt in training in a UFC fight then will send you to the best doctors. If you get hurt in a Pride fight most of the time they will tell me "oh you better take care of that!" The UFC will always let you know in a timely matter who you will be fighting & give you enough time to train but with Pride if I knew 4 weeks ahead I would be happy cause most times they just give you a 2 weeks notice. Pride will rip you off on your merchandising but the UFC would find someway to hook you up on merchandising deals. Pride will make fights easier for certain fighters inside the ring (like standing up fights early). With the UFC whatever happens happens. The only thing I see the UFC needs to fix in this area is to get better judges. Ones who know about MMA & not from the boxing world.
"The reason why I'm talking about all this is that I feel like this whole situation could have been avoided if UFC would have respected me more & rescheduled the fight about a month or more in my hometown, which I know fights can be rescheduled because of the Matt Hughes & Matt Serra was postponed due to injuries. Instead, Dana went on the internet & started talking bad about my decision. All we had to do was come to a certain type of argreement or understanding, which later came after a lot of trash talk from Dana. My manager flew to Vegas & talked to them & tried to work things out like a MAN. & still I keep quite & I didn't talk trash back on the internet. The only reason why I'm even talking now is because I feel like I owe my fans an explanation because I am a MAN, a real MAN. Yeah I made good money with the UFC more than Pride, but I made both shows more money than they made me. I didn't care too much about Pride treating me like crap cause I was an American in a Japanese company. Now in my own country, I feel like I'm being disrepected. Everything is not about how much money you make. You could be the richest man in the world but if nobody repsects you then it don't mean shit. You can't buy respect. It should be earned. & thats what I'm all about.
"Now Rashad wanna put his two cents in. Rashad remains to be a boy under me. He wins a few fights, and some of them I thought the judges fell asleep during the fight & woke up & saw him playing with his nipples & guessed he won. He knocked Chuck Liddel out when Chuck wasn't even the same man anymore. & now he thinks he's on my level. Yeah he talks about how he beat Forrest & I lost. But when I fought Forrest that was the worst Rampage I had ever seen. & I still know in my heart I won that fight. So now he's Mr. All Cocky & says I got a big mouth & talk a lot of smack. If my memory serves me correctly, he's the one that got into my face after the Jardine fight & started talking trash when he was the one that was originally supposed to fight me that night, but he told Dana on the phone he didn't want to fight. He wanted to keep his belt longer. Now, I'm not saying wether or not I would have beaten Machida, but I wouldn't have went out like a bitch like the way he did. So I'm the one that was looking forward to the Rashad fight the most. I have always been a fighter my whole life. As a kid my family treated me like shit which made me the person who I am today. This is why when I meet people I treat people the way I want to be treated (unless they approach me wrong or piss me off). I grew up thinking that I wasn't even important to my family which made me not even care about myself. That's why I can get knee-ed in the face 15 times & come back for more. That's why I can get my legs seriously hurt in a fight & still try to win. Thats why I can get my ribs broken in a fight & not tap out because my whole life I never thought I mattered to anybody or anybody cared about me. But now I have kids that love me & care about me & I'm not used to people caring about me but it feels good! I'm a very loyal person. Wolves are the most loyal animals on the planet. I was very loyal to the UFC, but now I owe all my loyalty to my kids... the ones who really care for me. The majority of my fights on the street I fought for free & they all were with emotion. I am a fighter, I will always be a fighter but my professional fights that were fought with emotion, I ended them all in devestating fashion. I am the wrong fighter that should fight pissed off professionally. I don't even consider it fair. So Rashad says he will fight me for free. I will gladly meet him at any gym & fight him just to shut his mouth up. & I mean that for real!
"When I told Dana I did not want my belt back & that I just wanted to make money, it was around the time when they gave me Vanderlei & actually it was around the same time when my mind wasn't right (my mind was at TRUCK status) & that's the way I felt because I felt I had been robbed out of my belt. After the Jardine fight I did want my belt back because my family was so proud of me when I was champion & I want to make my family proud cause now I finally feel like my family cares about me & they accept me & this is what I've been wanting my whole childhood... for my family to like me. If I got to beat some ass for my family to like me, so be it. But now, I'm a grown man & I'll be damned if anybody disrespects me. I'm not having it, it's not happening!"

six months and Rampage will be back in the UFC.
His bread and butter is fighting, not acting. Once the fighting stops, the acting opportunities go away. As the last poster wrote, 6 months and he'll be back... maybe a year tops.
He will have a Rashad Fight inked within a Month....Watch and see.
If Page goes into the Evans fight on emotions he probably will get cought BUT if he goies in there at 100% Rashad's gonna get his ass beat plain and simple!

I can't agree with him on this one. Dana did everything for that man especially with all the legal troubles he had. He should do the Rashad fight and then see if some kind of agreement can be made for him to take time off. When he was down the UFC picked him back up and I think he has really forgotten that - he may talk about it but not the real impact it had on his life.
I would retire to if I were Rampage. This has nothing to do with his legal problems. Rampage was still going to Fight Rashad, but then big mouth Dana White had to bash Rampage. Just like he does with every other fight that dosen't lick his balls. I hope Rampage beomes the next "Rock" and makes a good living acting.
He's not going into acting. He's going to do this one movie, and it will be back to fighting, because that is who he is. If the movie becomes a classic, which the odds are not in its favor, at best he gets another role in the remake.

The Rock was a less than average football player with muscles and a strong personality. He did the WWE or WWF and essentially improved his acting skills.The Rock is naturally good at acting. This was a really well thoughtout statement from Rampage. I noticed it didn't say anything about never fighting again though. Sounds to me he is just pissed at dana and wants some respect.It is the same thing that happened to Tito and Randy, and both are back. When he gets his respect, which he deserves, he will have a war with rashad!

Both have some blame in this but Dana is still to shoulder the majority of the blame. If a man decides he wants to try to make money acting instead of getting his head punched 50 times a night, that's his decision. Dana acts like he owns these people and when they branch out, he resorts to his usual infantile bashing, lashing out like a ten year old. His mouth has gotten him in trouble before. His mouth is the reason Fedor is not in the UFC. Get real. If a man bashes you, disrespects you, and humiliates you, then turns around and offers you money, you'd take a job from him? Dana's an idiot and it's about time people start telling him to f*** off.

Dana and the UFC did alot for Rampage, Rampage did TUF 10 and should honour the agreement to fight Rashad sooner rather than a year from now. When Rampage had his Rampage Dana and the ufc backed and supported him. He is messing with their plans and schedual and the fight not happening at the end of the season is a joke, why do the show then?
Rampage is a fighter not an actor and time will tell. I am worried how this will affect his career! I mean who really cares for Matt Serra or Matt Hughes now? and Rashad is getting the worst end of the stick! Rashad should not be waiting around for Rampage to wake up and realize he is a fighter with a big personality not an actor who went to acting school. I think Rampage is QUITTING b/c he knows he cant compete with the top dogs @ LHW, simply b/c he has & is the old school fighter/mentality that was successful B4, but now u have 2 b good overall in everything, which Rampage is far from achieving. Rampage couldnt even check Forrest's leg kicks & has "0" BJJ etc.
I also think Rashad hit the nail on the head when he said he would win VS Rampage b/c hes 2 slow & has a huge melon 4 Evans 2 KO. Rampage doesnt have the speed 2 compete with many LHW, EVANS especially. Evans would/will KTFO of Rampage like he did Lidell & Forrest. Evans is 2 fast 4 Rampage & thats FACT & by the looks of TUF 10 Rampage has no clue about coaching which makes no sence b/c the common sence aspect of figthing & coaching, such as who & what is a good match-up, like WTF was Rampage thinking with the 1st choice of fighters 2 fight each other?!? A sick wrestler VS a guy with no wrestling & very lil ground game, which was the biggest bone head decision of any TUF season(s). (bsides Ken Shamrock bringing a nutritionist as a coach/trainer/"advantage" when he was coaching) lol IDIOT.

P.S Rampage talks about Evans beating a Chuck Liddell that was old & crapy.... but I guess the Chuck that Rampage beat was the best Liddell of all time right Rampage u F@G!!! If anything, Liddell fought Evans right after Chucks war with Wanderlei Silva, Chuck had more confidence & everyone thought Chuck was back... which was possible but Evans KO'd Chuck alot more convincing/impressive than Rampages hook VS Chuck. Also Evans KO VS Chuck is possibly the craziest KO from a puncher going toe-toe. Chuck looked like he was shot after Evans K him TFO, which will b a highlight reel 4 decades unlike Rampages KO VS Chuck.
FINAL NOTE: Chuck Liddell hasnt been Chuck of old since hes win VS Ortiz yrs ago, so Rampage come up with a better xcuse than u beat the "best" Chuck Liddell possible & Evans beat up the old & slow Chuck..... u 2 fought the same shity Chuck Liddell.
Guess contracts dont mean shit if atheletes can do what they want when they want, just ask Rampage. "I'm a fighter but I am going 2 act instead of fullfilling my contract, which is 2 fight"

Rampage will fight Rashad and get beaten on the ground. Anger will not win him a fight. it will just burn his energy. He is good, but he can not adjust as the fight progresses.

As far as the movie goes, I think I would much rather see Rampage as B.A. Baracus than some of the other people considered for the role. However, I don't think he has a future in acting. He won't be like the Rock considering the fact that the Rock has been in the film industry for about 8 years and didn't really breakthrough until a few years ago (in my opinion). Rampage comparing the situation with his fight to the Hughes vs. Serra fight is like comparing apples to oranges. That fight had legitimate circumstances behind the delay (injuries/timing/birth of Serra's kid) to the not so legitimate "I want to be in a movie". If Rampage was so adamant about trying out acting, he might've wanted to talk to Dana about it before committing to TUF. At the end of the day, while Rampage might be "retired", I'd say the odds are very good that he'll head back to fighting and if my memory serves me right with regards to UFC contracts, he's probably going to need to mend fences if/when he returns (since a fighter's contract is suspended when they retire on the off chance they return like Randy).
I like Rampage, but this blog of his is almost child-like. It sounds more like a pity-me type of commentary, and nothing more. He fights Rashad, he beats Rashad...That simple. But enough with the crying and self loathing already.
