Fortysomethings Couture and Coleman Train As Hard As Ever

They may both be over forty, but UFC Hall of Famers Randy Couture and Mark Coleman both are training as hard as ever for their showdown at UFC 109 next week in Las Vegas.

This fight is going to suck hard! HEll, Dana White doesn't want to see this fight...even though he would never publically admit it. What makes it even worse is that everyone knows if Randy wins Silva is going to give him a light heavy title shot with either Machida or Shogun. After what beating Vera in a snoozer and an over the hill Coleman. 2 years ago Coleman was crushing roids by himself in his bathroom and now he's headlining a UFC PPV...only in American.

I love this fight! Seriously, let's see it. If it's a barn burner it's going to be great for ALL athletes.

I love the first guys comments too. Apparently he knows exactly what both Dana White and Joe Silva are thinking and he obviously knows intimate details about Mark Coleman and his training practices that could only be rivaled by those of Jose Canseco in regards to his contemporaries ... what a tool!
In case you're new to the sport let me fill you in ... These guys are Hall-of-Famers, show them some respect. Randy has won titles 5 different times in 2 different weight classes. If he were granted a title shot with a victory over Coleman, who could really argue? When he is gone from the sport, I speak I'm sure for all the fans that will truly miss him.

I'm a Couture fan but neither deserve a title shot after this fight. Mark just lost to Rua and then beat Stephan Bonnar (which was a preliminary fight), now if he wins he gets a title shot? Same with Randy, he lost two heavyweight fights in a row and then beat Vera who isn't a top contender. Now they both deserve to be title contenders? I respect what they both have done in the past but neither have done enough for a title contention fight. I say Jackon/Evans winner gets title shot. Then Coleman/Couture winner takes on Griffin/Nogeiura winner for a title contender spot.

Couture and Coleman WERE great once upon a time but now they are both holding onto a dream that has passed. I have loads of respect for what they've done and can still do at their mature ages, but respect for their past does not warrant a current shot at the title. No can honestly tell me they enjoy watching either one of them fight. Their stand up is painful to watch and their strategy while effective against the middle of the road level fighters, is lackluster vs the upper tier of light heavy fighters. Styles make fights and their styles make for a fight I don't want to see.

this fight is 10 times the fight that you will be offered for your next strikeforce ppv...just sayin

I do not think that Coleman is in the running for a title shot if he beats Couture, in fact nowhere is it mentioned in this video clip. Let's face it folks, Couture is a PPV draw, and if a title shot makes sense on down the line (i.e. August in Boston), then the UFC will make that fight happen. Do not forget that most UFC contracts are based on a certain number of fights w/in a certain time frame. I believe that Randy is coming to a close on his current deal that he signed (at the time of the Lesnar fight). Having said that I could see the UFC granting him the title shot as his swan song, if in fact his contractural obligations would be fullfilled with the theoritcal title fight. The dude is 47, sooner or later that ship has got to set sail. Besides, for me personally, I would much rather watch Couture take his last shot then see Chuck and Tito go at it again ... That is one fight that makes absolutely no sense for either fighter and anyone that would argue differently is just kidding themselves. But again, why was that fight made? PPV drawing power, plain and simple, two legends throwin' down one more time ... There is a generation of fighters at or near the end, so let's enjoy them while they are here, we loved them then and we should respect them now and be entertained. The dedication and perserverance they have shown has paved the way for this sport to become what it is today.

Without a doubt a horrible card... Not one fight I have any interest in.

Well then Bro, I guess you're just not a fight fan ...

funny how people like to talk shit about another Chuck/Tito fight...I enjoyed both of their previous fights so why not? not like theres title implications or anything...same people think Strikefarce is putting on amazing shows...thats cool, you morons can keep watching herschel walker and some tranny cyborg fight, I'll stick with the UFC, where there are REAL mixed martial artists...not counting Kimbo...lol

Yeah, Strikeforce doesn't have anyone, huh? Only 2 of the top ranked fighters on the planet that dana white fought tooth and nail to get. That wasn't a main strikeforce show saturday night- like comparing a crappy fight night card to something. Get off the UFC's sack

exactly...only 2...thats pretty much it...wait, I'll throw in Nick Diaz...I'm sorry, you go ahead and watch Strikefarce and their 3 fighters....I will still continue to be on the UFC's sack and watch real fights...you have fun at the big top with your carnival act.........................................................................but seriously, are you really gonna make a statement about how strikefarce has 2 top fighters? and by the way, Dana let Hendo leave, no tooth and nail involved...bitch

Did I miss something? Is there some reason people can't enjoy both the UFC and Strikeforce? Or, God forbid, maybe even Dream or Shooto?
