Prior to UFC 112, there was talk that middleweight champion Anderson Silva would like to cut to 170 pounds and challenge welterweight king Georges St-Pierre. It is a fight that was believed to be given some consideration, that is until UFC president Dana White says he was thoroughly "embarrassed" by Silva's performance at UFC 112. Now he says Silva doesn't deserve a fight with GSP.

Silva definitely proved in this fight that he is BY FAR the greatest fighter ever and he obviously danced around the whole time because Maia was not worthy of fighting him. Anderson wants to fight the best and as of right now those fights will be a 205. Nobody will ever come close to beating him at 185 ever again.

Here is the what it all boils down to...$$$ Your livelyhood depends on entertaining people and FIGHTING! Fighting involves risk and this is something A.S. obviously is no longer willing to do. I understand Silva has a "blackbelt" in BJJ, so why would he be that scared of going into Maia's guard? Isn't Silva a fighter? Shouldn't he want to show he can handle himself on the ground? I believe that Silva has gotten content to just TAKE MY HARD EARNED MONEY AND NOT PRODUCE ANYTHING FOR IT. He has no respect for the sport or most importantly the fans. If he was that far above Maia in skill then it should never have left the first min. of the first round. But Silva was content to drag it out..staying 'safe'. That's not a fighter, that's a scammer!!
This is a "give and take situation". I hold Silva a little more responsible for the severe lack of action because he is certainly the better fighter. But come on, Maia did fuck all. Come round 4 he knew he was not gonna get it to the ground and was going to lose a decision. Yet he made no attempt to engage with striking. So obviously he would rather lose a decision than take the 1 in a 100 chance at winning and get ko'ed. The Lietes fight sucked. But there was at least 5 times when Silva would pounce on him and Lietes would fall to his back without being touched so that's all on him. And with the kinda power Cote has and silva not yet having gone past the second round. It's no doubt cote's plan was to wait and find the right oppurtunity. Cote was the one walking backwards after all. The last thing I wanna touch on is wtf is going on with Silva having to go down to 170 to fight G.S.P. That is piss weak! When You've beat everyone there is to beat you go up, not call someone down to you. G.S.P's last few fights have been predictable and unexciting. If Silva is as good as all of his apologists here are saying, he should back it up by quickly destroying the allegedly inferior opponents he is being given. Anything else is an insult to the fans who pay ridiculous sums of money to see these fights live or on PPV. I for one will never pay for another card with Silva as a headliner, despite the fact that I agree he is perhaps the best in the sport today. He does not care at all about his fans.
I don't see Anderson performing at 185 like he used to, let me say the first two rounds were puzzling that he didn't finish and then he gets caught a few times in three and four and takes off like a ballet dancer. GSP might have not finished a few fights but he outclasses his opponents to the point of making it look like he's fighting a child. No more running silva! His next fight will be the first time I'll root for the other guy.
