Junie Browning's drunken exploits and out of control behavior has been the prominent focus of The Ultimate Fighter season eight. After his alcohol induced tirade attacking several housemates, most, including Browning, thought he would be kicked off the popular reality show on Spike TV. The decision to keep Browning in the house was made solely by UFC president Dana White, and according to White, "It had nothing to do with ratings."White explained he got the call from the producer alerting him there was a problem in the house. White then viewed the tapes of the multitude of incidents that transpired that night. The Spike TV producer was prepared to send Browning packing.
"That day that I got there, she (the producer) said, 'okay, so we've got his plane ticket home. We've got everything set.' And I went in and said, 'I don't if I'm going to kick him off the show,'" explained the outspoken UFC president. "She was like, what? Everybody knew for a fact that I was kicking him off the show. They knew."
"I went to the house that day and said, I don't know if I'm going to kick him off," added White. "She said, 'what do you mean you don't know?' I said, 'I don't know. I don't know what is going on. I just don't know if I'm going to do it.' I wanted to go inside and see how he was going to act. If he was a punk, I was going to kick him off the show. I went inside. He was upset. He looked like he was going to cry. He was apologetic about it, so I didn't do it."
When Browning remained in the house after shattering a glass off of Kyle Kingsbury's forearm, causing a laceration, push kicked Tom Lawlor to the ground, while trying to start fights with Ryan Bader and Krzysztof Soszynski, the only rational explanation was he remained due to ratings. White said, "It had nothing to do with the TV ratings. It had nothing to do with it."
Either way, Browning remains and ratings continue to rise.

i thought it was a f'n joke that he was allowed to stay in the house. worst decision from dana. its so obvious that this kid needs to grow up. this kid is a punk and i dont want to watch him in the ufc.

A guy that leaves the house (a few seasons ago) to go out for a little while gets kicked out, but Junie gets to stay after injuring someone in the house and hoping the fence? Dana himself said that his license to fight would have been revoked if the athletic commish would have been there. Why didn't Dana fire him. Because Dana likes the little punk. He kicked the guy out of the house last season for going on a drunked spree, but he still lets Rampage fight after multiple hit and runs. Dana is a hypocrite!
The TUF show has become a national joke. It has been reduced to watching idiots for almost an hour and a few minutes of a cage fight. Boxing's Contender was a lot better show where the fighters acted and spoke like they had a few brain cells instead of like brain damaged fools. Dana White is like a young Al Davis. Al Davis has done a lot for the sport of football and he has been insturmental in the past success of the Raiders. However, he has become the cause of their demise over recent years. In some time, I would not be shocked to see something similar from MMA, the UFC, and Dana White.
I stopped watching the Ultimate Fighter show because of the BS that Dana White allows to go on. I don't care what he says, its all about the ratings. He wants it to happen, otherwise the fighters would have to sign contracts that don't allow them to drink and bust up the house, which they show on every clip and gets worse every season, but the UFC allows it (and buys the alcohol for them). And what's up with the UFC not posting division standings or how you get a title shot? BJ Penn and GSP, come on, I like BJ at Lightweight, but he lost his last two fights at Welterweight, so how can he even be considered for a title fight with GSP? I'll tell you how, because it will sell tickets, that's how. How come Anderson Silva didn't start off at 205 with a title shot? If I were Kenny Florian I'd have my lawyers all over Dana and the UFC. But my biggest complaint is that the other promotions can't get their acts together. I watch the other fights, but the fighters are either also rans or all washed up. The UFC has the best fighters hands down. Mr. Trump needs to put his money where his mouth is and take it to the UFC otherwise nothing is going to change. Dana is going to keep being Dana and laughing at us all the way to the bank. But he won't have my money in his pockets anymore; I cancelled my extended cable so I can't buy the pay-per-view fights any more. That's okay; I'll watch the free ones and read about the others on the internet.
It's rather curious to see the transition from what was permitted in season #1 and what is permitted now. The first season Leben, Koscheck & Southworth got drunk and broke a door and they had to pay out of their pocket for the damages and they removed the alcohol from the house as a punishment and nearly kicked off the show for it. Now they are encouraged to break the house and alcohol is never removed. Previous seasons have had people fight and they were kicked off. One got kicked off just for encouraging a fight. Then after multiple incidents in a night he gets another change only to storm the cage the next day and still isn't kicked off. You just have to scratch your head at a comment like "If Keith Kieser the athletic commissioner was here he'd have pulled his license to fight". What other reason could there be for keeping him on the show besides the TUF ratings have continually dropped every season?
