WEC 42 Attendance Numbers Are In

Keith Kizer, Executive Director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, on Tuesday released the official attendance and live gate numbers for WEC 42 on Aug. 9 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

According to the NSAC's tally, a total of 1,640 people paid for their tickets inside the newly revamped event hall, while 442 people received "comp" tickets and 870 tickets went unsold.

All in, the event produced $175,835 in revenue for the lightweight wing of Zuffa, LLC.

The promotion's new bantamweight champion, Brian Bowles, may not need surgery after all to repair his damaged left hand, which he knocked out longtime champ Miguel Torres with in the first round of their meeting. He is currently suspended by the NSAC until February, though he may be cleared earlier if docs okay him.

They would do much better if they actually mixed up the location more. The East Coast has been begging for more shows for years, meanwhile NV and CA have more than they can support (except big UFC cards). A place as simple as Hershey, PA could bring in much better numbers.
