MMAInsider has learned that former World Extreme Cagefighting bantamweight champion Chase Beebe is weighing offers from Japanese promotions Dream and Sengoku.
The wrestling standout won the title at WEC 26 in the revamped organization, but lost it on his second defense to Miguel Torres at WEC 32. In his last appearance, Beebe dropped a split decision to Will Ribeiro at WEC 34.
Beebe was due to face Jeff Curran at WEC 37 on Dec. 3, but Curran had to pull out due to a broken right hand, and Beebe's Japanese offers were already on the table.
"The Dream contract they offered me was pretty sweet," Beebe said.
Beebe wants to fight around December, but said the K-1 Dynamite! New Year's Eve card was not on the table. In that respect, Sengoku was a closer fit, with an event featuring a lightweight Grand Prix scheduled for Jan. 4.
Beebe says a decision will be made in the upcoming weeks.
