GSP Addresses Potential Fight With Silva

Though middleweight champion Anderson Silva's stock has taken a big hit, it's hard to argue that a superfight with Georges St. Pierre wouldn't be big business.

UFC president Dana White thought December might be a good time to do it, in Toronto no less, if the welterweight champ got past Thiago Alves in July.

In a recent appearance for UFC Fight Club fans prior to UFC 97, St. Pierre weighed the idea of a fight with "The Spider."

"It would be interesting, but it depends on the outcome of my fight and his fight," he said. "We'll see."

One fan broached the idea of making the two coaches of opposing teams on "The Ultimate Fighter," leading to the super fight.

"I would have to sit down and see what the opportunity is," he continued. "How long I have for the fight. Because if I fight at 185, if I do it, I want to do it well. I want to put some extra muscle on me, some extra weight. I would have to go on a I would have to go on a diet for a couple extra weeks, and it would take me some extra time, but I'm always excited for a new challenge."

There is no way that Anderson Silva could keep the fight on his feet. 4th round TKO GSP

thats what everybody says, i think anderson will play a lil bit with him til he actually decides to Knock GSP out just to prove that he really is the best p4p fighter in the world, the spider's never never going to lose again.

making the jump to 185 would be a disaster for gsp look how he handled serras striking and think if it is your heart or your brain deciding the winner anderson k.o. rd1,and that is reality

Serra was a fluke. however, i couldn't call this fight, GSP is big enough to fight at middle weight, but Silva is big enough to fight at light heavy weight, skill wise they're pretty evenly matched. regardless of the winner, that would be a fantastic fight.

this would be an amazing fight but silva would win. i like both of them but i think silva is just in a class of his own in everything. im not sure if anyone would finish but it would be an amazing war. give one an orgasim

Silva walks around at 215-220 why in the hell do people want to see a big guy fight a smaller guy? Its not competitive, its just another mis-match, gimmick fight hyped up by ridiculous p4p debates. Silva needs to fight Wandy, Jardine, Rua, Hendo, Evans and Griffin. They would be competitive fights with men his OWN SIZE.
Leave the p4p junk to boxing.

I think the 1 thing GSP has on him is Anderson has not faced that kind of speed that GSP has in the UFC plus he has already had a fight with a Greg Jackson fighter witch is never a good thing for anyone. The Hendo fans are gonna kill me for saying this but GSP may out wrestle him witch hasen't happened to him yet either. Plus he won't be able to sit back and try and out point GSP it won't work.

Silva is CLEARLY the better striker and would take GSP standing. However, GSP is clearly the better wrestler/grappler. And his takedown is the best EVER! It would be very interesting to see how Silva would deal with the takedown. I don't think Silva could keep GSP from eventually taking him down. GSP seemed to do just fine against BJ's Jiu-Jitsu (no, I don't think it was because of "grease") and is a sick MAULER on the ground! Based on what I've seen of both fighters on the ground, I would HAVE to give it to GSP. So, to sum it up: Stand-up goes to Silva in the later rounds or even decision, but I think GSP would eventually take Silva down, hurt him and eventually stop the fight via KO or TKO via strikes on the ground. If GSP fails to attempt takedowns and tries to trade, fight goes to Silva. GOD bless 'em both though, my two favorite fighters of all time! What a fight! Woo-hoo!

although his takedwon defense blows (watch travis lutter vs anderson silva) i think that anderson could submit GSp..even tho BJ couldnt i think silva could bc of his lanky ass arms n legs...but standin silva would rape GSS...but if GSp wrestled him the whole time then GSP by decison otherwise its silvaa by KO or TKO
