I've heard the rumors that if Cain wins he will get a title shot. I don't think he quite deserves one yet. He has really only beat Kongo and Rothwell isn't title contender material. On the other hand, the only big name Brock beat was Heath Herring and Shane Carwin only beat Gabe Gonzaga and both have got title shots. UFC is building their heavyweight division but it still seems like the title shots are given out too easily.
In fairness though, it's not exactly like it's a stacked division anymore...Carwin deserved the shot moreso than anyone else, and they need *someone* for Brock to fight...be glad it wasn't Kimbo...
I agree with Tice. The UFC has more Heavyweights with names but that doesn't mean they are better. The HW division is not that good. Strikeforce has Fedor and Bret Rogers. I bet Bret can beat well over half of the UFC HW. Alistar Overeem can also beat alot of the UFC HW. I weigh 240, maybe I'll get a title shot next. LOL
Yeah, I think they gave it to Carwin cause he's undeafeted and he's the only good BIG guy in the division. I think he weighed in at 263 when he fought Gonzaga. I don't think UFC has anyone that big besides Lesnar. Even though it was a joke, if they did give Kimbo a shot, it would mark the first time I would root for Brock.
UFC loves to create their own fighters. Why pay Barnett 200k when they can pay Shane or Cain 80k and get similar viewership if they promote to SpikeTV fans?
Then again, this is what annoys me about the UFC, especially the HW division. Werdum, Kharitonov, Aleks, Overeem, AA, and even Sylvia could do well in the UFC right now. But they are not gonna get a deal that matches their skills.
Fedor doesn't really have anyone to fight in the UFC except for Lesnar. So this whole thing about Fedor needs to fight to the best is ridiculous..or at least over exaggerated. Shane/Cain/Dos Santos/Mir fights won't mean much to Fedor since he could get the same level of respect by fighting Barnett/Overeem/Rogers/Werdum.
Fans want to see Brock vs Fedor. But like I said, that is the only fight UFC could offer for Fedor.
The only guy worth talking about in the HW division outside the U.S is Fedor. Barrentt cant stay off the juice, Rogers knocked out a wasted up Arloski, and Werdum got his ass knocked out by Dos Santos. and Overeem has not beat a top 10 HW. Dont get me wrong I would love to see fedor fight in the ufc but if you think these guys are just as good of competion as the ufc hw division your wrong.

Because an $80,000 investment is more lucrative than spending $200,000 on a steroid scandal.
